A workbench, not a magic wand.
PromptKB helps you turn one-off instructions into reusable, checkable prompts.
What this is
An independent, early-stage project: a small collection of task-focused templates and a browser-based editor. The templates are illustrative starting points, not independently benchmarked or guaranteed to work with every model. Always check important outputs against primary sources. This site is not affiliated with a model provider.
Your prompts and test records stay with you
The workbench substitutes variables locally. It does not call an AI model or send your prompt text, inputs, drafts, pasted answers, or test judgments to our server. It uses your browser's local storage to remember current work, test records, and saved drafts. No account, analytics, advertising trackers, or cookies are used.
Opening the site makes ordinary requests for pages, scripts, styles, and the public template library. Like any web host, the server processes connection information including your IP address. We do not enable web access logging or collect a browsing analytics history. The host and network providers may process connection metadata for their own operations. Server error and operational logs may contain connection metadata; system journal retention is controlled by the host.
Local does not mean encrypted
Other people with access to this browser profile can read saved drafts. Browser extensions may also have access. Do not put passwords, API keys, regulated records, or private customer data here. Clearing site data removes your drafts. Export JSON backups if you want to keep them; those files are also unencrypted.
The workbench allows one updated tab to save at a time. Other tabs keep edits in memory until you explicitly enable saving, and changed saved versions require an explicit reload. Learn how saving access and backups work.
Use “Delete all local data” in the workbench to remove this site's saved work from local storage. When you copy a prompt into an external AI tool, that tool's privacy and retention policies apply.
Reuse
The starter templates are free to use, adapt, and share under the MIT license. Use your own judgment for legal, medical, financial, security, and other high-stakes work. A well-written prompt is not a safety boundary.
A notebook, not a benchmark
Capture instructions and inputs before a run, paste the answer from your AI tool, and record manual judgments with evidence. Records keep their captured prompt even when you edit the workbench. Side-by-side comparisons expose differences in inputs and self-reported model names; they do not prove reliability. Capture dates come from your device clock and are not verified execution timestamps.
